Deeper Dive Part 1: CES Values for Equity, Justice & Liberation Course
This is a 7-session training for CES employees. Please note: Because the sessions build upon each other, we ask that those participating in this course be able to attend all 7 sessions.
For those desiring Professional Development Points for the training, 15 PDPs will be available.
This seven session series is an opportunity open to all internal CES staff to connect and take a deeper dive into the values that are foundational to CES and the ways we show up in our work. The course will center on 4 core CES values from our current strategic plan: a culture of community & care, self-awareness & growth, equity & inclusion, and action & transformation. Throughout the course, Dr. Barbara Love’s framework of Developing a liberatory consciousness will be a central support to our individual and collective reflection and growth on these core values. This series will include opportunities for individual and collective reflection, experiential learning, dialogue, and many different forms of resources and skills to build capacity for everyday action. Please join us for this joyful and liberatory experience!

For those desiring Professional Development Points for the training, 15 PDPs will be available.
This course is an extension of the Deeper Dive course on the CES Core Values for folks who have completed the Deeper Dive course. In these sessions, participants will continue to engage in a community of care, finding space to reflect, share, and support each other as we work to embody and become more aligned with the core values. Course readings will center around the core text: The Four Pivots: Reimagining Justice, Reimagining Ourselves by Dr. Shawn Ginwright. This text will support us to engage with four pivots for how we embody our values and justice work: from lens to mirror, from transactional to transformative, from problem to possibility, and from hustle to flow. As we explore this text, we’ll apply it to our roles and organization by engaging in commitment projects with the support of ongoing peer feedback, coaching, and shared reflection.
Participants will –
- Continue deepening our understanding of and alignment with the CES Core Values
- Reflect on the readings and dialogue with colleagues about growth and challenges they are witnessing and experiencing as we work to be in alignment in embodying the values
- Continue to strengthen our community of care by connecting, reflecting, and sharing together regularly throughout the course
- Reflect on how we can reimagine ourselves, our roles, and our organization in ways that both meet the values and embody Dr. Shawn Ginwright’s 4 pivots
- Engage in commitment projects, building off our action-projects from the previous course, and grow through peer coaching and support throughout the sessions
