Dear Colleagues,
I was recently reminded again about how dedicated and passionate our teaching professionals at CES are. At a celebration of high school graduation in one of our Department of Youth Services Education Initiative programs, we also had the opportunity to mark the anniversary of one of our long-term special education teachers in the SEIS program. This individual has served DYS students for 50 years – as long as our organization has existed. What he had to say about his tenure with the program was this: “It’s all about the kids.”
Teachers in our programs make a vital and lasting difference to the youth they teach, often illuminating hope where it didn’t exist, and demonstrating that a way forward is possible. They do not seek the spotlight for that work. They persevere to support many, many students over the years.
As educators we entered this profession to make a difference – to positively impact the lives of the children we serve. We know that our students take note, and remember the educators that taught them, provided support and who continue to care long beyond their time in our classrooms, programs and schools. We believe in them and their potential. That belief in our students is foundational to their success.
As another school year wraps up, always remember: ‘It’s all about the kids”. Thank you for all your efforts this year and every year; and never doubt that you are making a difference.
Sincerely,
Todd
