Welcome!

The CES Cabinet was established in 2017 as a standing committee. The group currently meets monthly or as needed to respond to emerging needs. In October, 2017, the group approved a statement of its purpose and goals, which follows.

Purpose

The CES Cabinet provides leadership that is effective and responsive to the needs of the students, educators, and community members we serve, based on meaningful and appropriate levels of input from agency staff members and with an eye to ensuring long-term sustainability and to fulfilling our organizational mission. 

Key Functions

Alignment and Responsiveness

  1. Ensure alignment of agency work to CES vision, goals, and strategic plan
  2. Ensure responsiveness of agency work to the current and emerging needs of the children, youth, families, educators, agencies and others that we serve
  3. Solicit maximum appropriate involvement of leadership groups and workgroups for carrying out strategic priorities, including soliciting specific expertise and participation in Cabinet meetings.

Procedures, Policies, and Systems

  1. Develop and recommend policies for Board review and approval
  2. Establish procedures and systems to increase efficiency, effectiveness, innovations, interdepartmental collaboration, inclusiveness and diversity in programs and staff

Decision-making

  1. Decide, or make recommendations to the Executive Director or Board, about whether and how to move forward with new and substantial projects and/or initiatives such as proposed cross-agency programs and major capital expenditures
  2. Decide or make recommendations to the Executive Director or Board about resource allocations which impact a significant portion of the agency
  3. Decide on workgroups and/or invite staff to Cabinet discussions regarding decisions, design, and implementation of new initiatives or program directions

Communications and Continuous Improvement

  1. Monitor and support continuous improvement of strategic goals/priorities
  2. Ensure decisions, strategic objectives, and new intitiatives are effectively communicated to relevant staff

Accountability

  • Responsible for alignment of resource allocation and efforts with the strategic plan. Effectiveness in achieving organizational objectives.
