The SJE Platform is a cross-departmental group at CES.
Co-chairs of the SJE Platform are Safire DeJong, Tom Chang, and Talya Sogoba.
The monthly platform meetings (see Agendas and Minutes here) occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, and are focused on:
- Assessing our current practices at CES in relation to equity (Awareness and Analysis)
- Working with colleagues to identify solutions (Accountability/Allyship)
- Working with colleagues to implement necessary transformations (Action)
The Platform also facilitates monthly social justice focused dialogues open to all CES staff.
We work on the development of Educators of Color Liberation Network, with the goal of creating a foundation that makes the work of educators of color sustainable and generative.
We organize ongoing identity-based affinity groups for CES staff (see Caucuses as a Racial Justice Strategy)
